Here’s Why the Royals Didn’t Wish Prince Harry a Happy Birthday Today

Today, Prince Harry celebrates his 41st birthday, but you might not have known that if you had turned to the royal family social media accounts.

In the past, both the official royal family page and Prince William and Princess Kate’s joint page have posted messages to their Instagram Stories and X feeds, sending well wishes to the Duke of Sussex on his big day.

However, this year, there was nothing to be found.

Today, the Duke of Sussex celebrates his 41st birthday.

One likely explanation is that King Charles III and Queen Camilla are preparing for a state visit from President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania. Right now, their social media pages have been swarmed with a video series that explains the processes behind orchestrating a state visit, and with so much already happening, it’s likely their social media teams are a bit inundated.

Not to mention, Prince Harry’s birthday hasn’t been consistently highlighted on the royal family social media either. Since he and Duchess Meghan stepped down from their senior roles as royals in 2020, their presence on the royal family pages has been much more limited.

Last year, Prince Harry’s birthday was recognized with multiple posts, but that was also because it was a milestone—his 40th. There were no posts the year prior, and also none in 2022 (but it’s important to note that Harry’s birthday in 2022 came soon after the death of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II).

One could argue that the years-long tension between Harry and a few members of the family could explain the silence on behalf of the royals today. But Harry seems to be mending ties with his royal relatives, as just last week, he made a trip to see his father—their first time seeing each other in 18 months—while he was spending time in the U.K. for a series of engagements.

Regardless, why would Harry need anything else when he got such a flirty message from his wife?
