Kate Middleton will honor a recently deceased member of the royal family at her annual Christmas carol service.

On Nov. 13, Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales will host her fifth annual “Together at Christmas” Carol Service in London on Friday, Dec. 5, and program details revealed it will include a tribute to the late Katharine, the Duchess of Kent.

The Duchess of Kent was married to Queen Elizabeth‘s cousin Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, and a former working member of the royal family who died at age 92 in September.

Katharine was passionate about music throughout life (and even secretly worked as a music  teacher), and Princess Kate invited young people from the music charity she co-founded to participate in “Together at Christmas.”

A palace statement said that before guests enter Westminster Abbey for the festive service, they will hear music from young performers from Future Talent.

The Duchess of Kent co-founded the group in 2004 to support musically gifted children from low-income backgrounds in the U.K., in a mission to give every child a chance to excel in music.

It is a thoughtful homage for Princess Kate to involve Future Talent in the “Together at Christmas” concert, providing the young musicians a high-profile opportunity to perform in the royal spotlight.

Princess Kate was one of the many royal family members who paid her respects at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral on Sept. 16, and her upcoming holiday concert will be another event that brings the family together.

The theme for the 2025 “Together at Christmas” carol service is “love in all its forms,” a powerful choice at the end of the year in which Princess Kate announced that she was in remission from cancer.

Kate Winslet, Hannah Waddingham, Dan Smith and Chiwetel Ejiofor are also involved in the service, which will welcome 1,600 people to Westminster Abbey to celebrate love this holiday season.
