With the monarch reportedly planning to travel to the United States for a royal visit in 2026, a Trump official has revealed the less-than-glamorous conditions the King could be hosted under
With rumours swirling that King Charles may travel to the US in just a few months time for an official royal visit, a Trump official has admitted the less-than-glamorous conditions the monarch could be welcomed by.
Advanced talks on a visit Stateside by the King are said to be underway, and while the overseas has not yet been officially confirmed by the Palace, reliable royal sources have claimed that the King and Queen Camilla will travel to America in the Spring. Their visit will reportedly coincide with the 250th anniversary of the signing of the US declaration of independence from Britain.

However, ith the potential visit just a few months away, it has been revealed that Charles may not receive the degree of pomp and pageantry enjoyed by Donald Trump during his visit to the UK for a state visit last September.
Instead, he could be left with no choice but to use a portable lavatory, according to White House staff secretary Will Scharff. The Trump staffer warned of the potential scenario while pedalling Trump’s vision of replacing the presidential residence’s East Wing with an extravagant ballroom for hosting foreign dignitaries.
Visiting state leaders are currently hosted in lavish tents on the South Lawn because the East Room is too small to host large numbers of people. As a result of the renovations, portable toilets have been installed nearby, allowing guests to avoid the need to trek to and from the White House.
Admitting the dire state of the White House when expecting such important foreign visitors, Mr Scharff admitted it does not reflect well on the US.
“I think it’s notable that when the President of the United States of America flies to the United Kingdom, he’s hosted at Windsor Castle,” Mr Scharff said during a meeting of the National Capital Planning Commission on Thursday as he discussed the large-scale White House renovations.
“And when the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland comes to the United States, more likely than not, he will be hosted in a tent on the South Lawn with porta-potties. That, to me, is not a good look for the United States of America.”
According to The Times, the King’s visit could take place in April and would be the first by a British monarch since 2007, when the late Queen was hosted by former US President George W. Bush.
It would also be the first time that Charles has visited the United States since his estranged son Prince Harry moved to California with his wife, Meghan in 2020 – although it is believed very unlikely there would be any meeting between the pair on the trip.
Trump is known to be a huge fan of the royals, who are seen as the UK’s secret weapon when it comes to diplomacy with the US. Earlier this year, the president hailed the King as a “great gentleman and a great King” after Charles hosted him on a historic second state visit to the UK. As they bid farewell at the end of the visit, the president declared, pointing at Charles: “Thank you very much, everybody. He’s a great gentleman – a great gentleman and a great King.”
