With Prince William first in line to the throne, Meghan Markle is reportedly aware that her brother-in-law becoming king could mean she might lose her title. The Duchess of Sussex recently graced the cover of Harper’s Bazaar magazine. What stood out was her royal title featured prominently on the cover, which caught the attention of the netizens. According to royal expert Tom Sykes, Markle’s emphasis on using her title may be because she wants to make the most of it in case the Prince of Wales revokes it when he becomes king.

Meghan Markle probably knows her royal title is in jeopardy, claims expert

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal duties in 2020. The couple now lives in Montecito with their two children — Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Since then, Harry and Meghan have been involved in various ventures, building their own identity outside of royal responsibilities.

Recently, the “Suits” actor appeared on the cover of the latest Harper’s Bazaar magazine, which was accompanied by a feature. According to the Daily Mail, reporter Kaitlyn Greenidge described her first interaction with Markle, explaining how she was introduced by a staff member with the royal title. She wrote, “When I enter, the house manager announces, ‘Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.’” Greenidge further noted that it wasn’t a formal event, as it was just the two of them in the house.

Tom Skyes, the royal expert, took note of the incident. He wrote in his article about how Markle is focused on making everyone around her call her “The Duchess of Sussex,” even if it doesn’t fit the situation. The expert believed that she is clinging to her royal title as she is aware that Prince William could revoke it once he becomes the king.

The Daily Beast correspondent wrote, “Meghan Markle’s frantic insistence on the title of Duchess is an attempt to imprint her family’s royal connections on the public before their inevitable removal.”

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was recently stripped of his Duke of York title by King Charles. The royal family is making it clear that they are willing to withdraw titles if necessary, and this is a reality that is not lost on Harry and his wife, Markle.
