Meghan Markle’s fan base has reached its smallest size ever in Britain, according to new polling.

YouGov has recorded her lowest ever favorability score, for the number of people who like her, at just 20 percent in a survey of U.K. adults conducted over May 6 and 7.

This compares to an unfavorable score of 65 percent, for those who disliked her, giving her a net approval rating of minus 45. Her unfavorable score has been slightly lower previously.

Why It Matters

Meghan relaunched herself in 2025 with a Netflix cooking show, With Love, Meghan, an online shop, As Ever, and a new podcast about entrepreneurship, Confessions of a Female Founder.

The pivot involved a move away from the kind of content the couple had been making before, in which they were heavily critical of the British monarchy, and in so doing it created the possibility she might detoxify her relationship with the public.

However, as far as Britain is concerned, it does not appear to have improved her standing with ordinary people yet.

What To Know

A YouGov press release read: “New YouGov data shows that favorability towards Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is at its lowest point since it started being tracked in 2017.”

“Following the recent failure of his protection case and subsequent interview with the BBC, Prince Harry is also seen negatively by the British public,” it continued.

“The latest YouGov royal favorability tracker poll finds that only 27 percent of Britons have a positive opinion of Prince Harry, with 63 percent having a negative view of him, his worst score since early 2023. Again, younger people feel more favorably toward the prince than older people.”

Harry’s scores give him a net approval rating of minus 36. Meghan and Harry were highly unpopular with the over 65s, of whom 86 percent disliked Meghan and 81 percent disliked Harry.

They scored far better among 18 to 24 year olds, though even then they were divisive Meghan holding a net approval rating for Gen Z of minus 2 and Harry of net zero.

Prince William and Princess Kate Most Popular Royals

The Prince and Princess of Wales were Britain’s most popular royals, with Kate liked by 72 percent and disliked by 13 percent putting her on plus 59.

William was liked by 75 and disliked by 16 percent, meaning he also had a net approval rating of plus 59.

Princess Anne came next with support among 69 percent of Brits, a negative rating among 11 percent and a net approval of plus 58.

King Charles III was liked by 61 percent and disliked by 29 percent putting him on plus 32, while Queen Camilla was liked by 46 percent, disliked by 41 percent and had a net approval of plus 5.
