Prince Andrew’s title removal was reportedly a family decision. The former Duke of York recently lost his title amid the recent controversies surrounding him. The Buckingham Palace confirmed King Charles’ decision in an official statement. According to a source, the King’s family members were also involved in this important decision.

King Charles had royal family’s support in Prince Andrew’s title removal, per source

According to PEOPLE’s source, the royal family supported King Charles’s decision to remove Prince Andrew’s title. The 76-year-old had removed his brother’s rights using his Royal Prerogative, allowing him to deal with certain royal titles and honors without involving Parliament. However, his family also showed their support, including his son, Prince William.

Additionally, a source told the outlet that they “sensed a female touch,” in the statement. They speculated Queen Camilla and Kate Middleton were also part of the important move. The source stated, “I would think the Queen had a hand in that.” They further added, “There would have been a push from Camilla and Catherine.” Moreover, “there was pressure from William, who would not want to inherit the headache.”

The source continued, “There was pressure from William, who would not want to inherit the headache.” “It was a family decision,” they noted. The individual also mentioned, “It was quite strong, and I was quite proud when I heard it.” Additionally, the source claimed the family is “definitely looking to the future. This could all be part of that.” William and Catherine are moving soon, and all their comments have been about looking to the future,” the source added.

King Charles was reportedly furious with Andrew’s latest controversy. As such, he took action, and “He would not be happy with that but he’s had to do it.” While the brothers are reportedly not close, “[Andrew] is his (King Charles) brother, and he will feel some care and affection and concern for him.” However, “he wouldn’t have wanted to make that decision. He would rather Andrew dealt with it.” Recently, Andrew was also reportedly asked to leave the Royal Lodge. However, in exchange for his departure, he allegedly demanded that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s former house, Frogmore Cottage, be given to him.
