Prince William opened up to Eugene Levy on the Apple TV+ travel series The Reluctant Traveler.

In the October 3 episode titled “Living the Royal Life in the U.K.,” the heir to the throne discussed his family, interests, and revealed how he sees the future of his eldest son, Prince George.

Together with his wife, Kate Middleton, the Prince and Princess of Wales are parents to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.

After William, George is next in line to the throne. For this reason, when the Prince of Wales was asked about the continuity of his legacy in the hands of his eldest son, he stated that there are several aspects that must be taken into account:

I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job that actually does impact people’s lives for the better,” he said.

However, William could not help but confess that he wants to protect him from various situations he had to go through as a child with his younger brother, Prince Harry:

That is caveated with, I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past, that Harry and I had to grow up in – and I’ll do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation,” explained Prince William.

The truth is that this was the only comment the heir to the throne made about his younger brother. The sons of King Charles III have been estranged since 2020 when Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down from their royal duties and moved to the United States.

The bond became even more strained after they revealed big secrets and intimate details about the royal family. This broke the trust between the two sides, and even though he recently reunited with his father, Harry did not visit his older brother during his trip to the UK.

In the interview, William also remembered his mother, Princess Diana, and said that his desire to have a home surrounded by “safety, security, love” was inspired by her: “That all has to be there, and that was certainly part of my childhood. My parents got divorced when I was 8, so that lasted a short period of time. You take that and you learn from it and you try and make sure you don’t make the same mistakes as your parents,” he said.

I think we all try and do that and I just want to do what’s best for my children, but I know that the drama and the stress when you’re small really affects you when you’re older,” admitted the 43-year-old Prince of Wales.

Meanwhile, the episode “Living the Royal Life in the U.K.” is available on Apple TV+.
