Royal expert’s ‘sad’ claim for why Prince William ‘can’t stand’ Prince Harry: ‘Serious’

Despite several recent trips to the UK, Prince Harry has seemingly made no effort to see his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, in an attempt to repair their broken relationships (or vice versa). Royal photographer for The Sun, Arthur Edwards, has revealed that he believes “something serious must have happened” between the two brothers for their previously close bond to be ruined.

Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, Arthur said, “William and Harry were so close all their life, everything they did together. They went and they did everything together. They were so close.

“And now something must have happened that seriously happened that William just can’t stand him anymore. And that’s just so sad.”

However, while others have believed there is no chance of a reconciliation, Arthur says, “I do believe in the prodigal son. You can say, I’m sorry and repent and promise not to do it again. And I’m sure the King and William will say ‘OK, let’s give it another try.'”

Royal author Robert Jobson adds that Prince Harry would need to offer a “straightforward apology” to his father and brother for any chance of moving forward together.

Arthur agreed, saying Harry needs to stop talking about his family and say, “I’m sorry, Papa, I’m sorry. I want to come back. I want to see you. I want to be with you. I want to spend some time with you.”

However, Arthur says this is “not happening”, so they’re stuck in a stalemate, with Robert adding the King won’t be able to make the first move “unless he can trust his son”.

Harry and William were seen in the same place together last year at a memorial service for their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes.

Harry secretly flew to the UK for the memorial, and despite the brothers being only metres apart at one point, they did not speak at all.

Royal expert Hugo Vickers previously told The Sun that if there was to be any kind of reconciliation between the brothers, there would be an “enormous amount of groundwork to be done.” However, he believes there could be a chance “if both sides are prepared to give a little.”

The brothers have previously been seen speaking when reunited at events such as Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021 and after Queen Elizabeth II died in 2022, when they, along with their wives, laid tributes to their grandmother.

“They have been in the same room, if I can put it like that, on several occasions,” Hugo said. “But this doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s going to be a reconciliation.

“I think that, from what I understand, Prince William is very annoyed, and tends to be rather unforgiving, so I think there’s an enormous amount of groundwork to be done.”

Speaking about a possible reconciliation, Hugo added, “Let’s hope that one day this will happen. But I don’t honestly see it happening in the near future.”

Referencing Harry’s book, Spare, and his Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, Hugo said, “He has thrown a great number of spears and javelins in the direction of the Royal family, particularly at Prince William, and indeed at Catherine as well, and, of course, to the King.

“So Prince William, I think, has every reason to be very irritated by his brother.”

The royal expert says that while the brothers may have been able to patch things up before Spare and Harry & Meghan were released, it’s going to be less likely now, especially given William is “very protective of his wife”.

Hugo also believes both Princess Diana and King Charles would want the brothers to reunite, but once again, it is up to them.
