A much-loved jeweller who became the Crown Jeweller striking up a close bond with the late Queen and Princess Diana has died aged 83.

David Thomas began his illustrious career as a jewellery cleaner and postboy, before going on to become the the late Queen Elizabeth’s personal jeweller.

Thomas was always on hand at the great State occasions, armed with pliers, tape and string, “in case something happens, and the Queen’s crown may need adjustment.” He once told the Telegraph that he regarded the work as a “great privilege”.

David had a fond relationship with the late Princess Diana, whom he treated “like one of my own daughters”. He recalled that the late Princess of Wales would often call him over to Kensington Palace: “She’d always say something like, ‘I’m going to an important dinner tonight and I’ve got to knock them sideways.’ ”

Thomas worked for the Royal Family for several decades, taking on a major task in 2017, as he worked on the engagement ring that Prince Harry gave to Meghan Markle. As he had been “bombarded by questions from the press”, Thomas confessed it had been the “biggest and hardest secret” he had ever had to keep. But “Jewellers are like doctors: We never discuss our patients!”

In 1969 Thomas married Vivienne Simms, who survives him with two daughters and a son.

‘Major event’ in Royal family coming very soon warns ‘Living Nostradamus’

The Brazilian mystic – dubbed the ‘Living Nostradamus ‘ – revealed his predictions to the tabloid earlier this year about what awaits the Royal Family, issuing some fairly foreboding cautions.

He envisaged “a major event within the royal family – possibly tied to the health of a key member” occurring specifically between late 2025 and early 2026.

Further details of this anticipated development indicate it will trigger, for Prince Harry, “a symbolic return to the UK and a fragile truce with King Charles and Princess Eugenie. Prince William, however, remains a fracture point.”

Princess Beatrice appeared to show her support for shamed dad Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor — by joining him on a horse ride.

Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, who was known as Prince Andrew, spent time with Beatrice and his granddaughter Sienna, four, in the Royal Mews at Windsor before they headed on to the castle’s grounds.

According to reports, they spent more than 45 minutes enjoying Home Park in the shadow of Widsor Castle. It is understood Beatrice, 37, also spent time at Royal Lodge, which Andrew is soon to vacate.
