Lady Anne Glenconner, the author and former lady-in-waiting to Princess Margaret, has just released a new memoir full of tips on how to navigate life – and  she has some brilliant advice on how to smooth relations over Christmas.

In the book, Manners and Mischief: An A–Z of Royal Tales and Surprising Wisdom, the 93-year-old looks back on her life, and shares previously unseen images – including one of Princess Margaret dressed up as Mae West during a game of amateur dramatics – while offering sage advice on everything from how to exit gracefully from a bath to how to be as diplomatic as possible.

LP Staff Writers

Writers at Lord’s Press come from a range of professional backgrounds, including history, diplomacy, heraldry, and public administration. Many publish anonymously or under initials—a practice that reflects the publication’s long-standing emphasis on discretion and editorial objectivity. While they bring expertise in European nobility, protocol, and archival research, their role is not to opine, but to document. Their focus remains on accuracy, historical integrity, and the preservation of events and individuals whose significance might otherwise go unrecorded.
