Royal Family snubs Prince Harry’s 41st birthday amid Trump state visit focus

Prince Harry turned 41 on September 15, 2025, but royal watchers noticed something striking – there were no birthday messages posted on the Royal Family‘s official social media accounts. In past years, Harry’s birthday was acknowledged by the Royal Family page, and occasionally by Prince William and Princess Kate as well.

This year though, his birthday came and went without any public acknowledgment from those channels. Many are speculating why.

Instead, royal social media was saturated with posts tied to the upcoming state visit from U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania.

Videos, official statements, and behind-the-scenes content dominated the official feeds, seemingly leaving no room for birthday greetings for Harry. Some observers believe this focus displaced what might have been a customary acknowledgment.

Optics and underlying tensions

Some analysts believe the omission reflects ongoing tensions between Harry and the Royal Family. Since stepping back from senior duties in 2020, his visibility in official royal communications has been inconsistent.

Last year, his 40th birthday was recognized with social media posts – but this year’s silence is different given the symbolic weight of a milestone like 41, and coming right after his recent brief reunion with his father, King Charles.

Others, however, suggest the omission could be explained practically. Preparing for a major state visit involves considerable coordination, messaging, and scheduling.

With the Trump state visit at the top of many agendas, content teams may have allocated resources and attention there, unintentionally sidelining other items. Nonetheless, royal commentators warn that silence – even if logistical – can be interpreted as snub.

Meghan Markle, meanwhile, did post a warm tribute to Harry: sharing a throwback image with the caption “Oh hi, Birthday Boy”, a reminder Harry is not without supporters.

But official royal channels remaining quiet has sparked debates on loyalty, protocol, and whether public courtesy is being reserved for other priorities.

For many fans, this is more than a social media moment – it’s a sign of how far distance and diplomacy can stretch in modern royal life. And whether Harry sees this as a hurt or just a speed bump may depend on what comes next in an already fragile reconciliation.
