State Visit by The President of The Federal Republic of Germany and Ms. Büdenbender

The Federal President, accompanied by Ms. Büdenbender are currently in the UK for a State Visit, as the guests of The King and Queen.

On arrival into the United Kingdom, The Federal President and Ms. Büdenbender were greeted by The Prince and Princess of Wales, on behalf of His Majesty The King, at Heathrow Airport before travelling to Windsor.

The King and Queen formally welcomed The Federal President and The First Lady at the Royal Dais, on Datchet Road, Windsor, as a Royal Salute was fired in the Home Park in Windsor, and at the Tower of London. The Federal President and Ms. Büdenbender then joined The King and Queen, and The Prince and Princess of Wales, in a carriage procession to Windsor Castle.

In the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle, a Guard of Honour gave a Royal Salute and the regimental Band played the German and British National Anthems. The Federal President, accompanied by The King, inspected the Guard of Honour, before rejoining The Queen and Ms. Büdenbender, together with The Prince and Princess of Wales, to view the military Rank and March past.

Following lunch in the State Dining Room, joined by Members of the Royal Family, Their Majesties invited The Federal President and The First Lady to view a special exhibition of items relating to Germany from the Royal Collection, in the Green Drawing Room.

LP Staff Writers

Writers at Lord’s Press come from a range of professional backgrounds, including history, diplomacy, heraldry, and public administration. Many publish anonymously or under initials—a practice that reflects the publication’s long-standing emphasis on discretion and editorial objectivity. While they bring expertise in European nobility, protocol, and archival research, their role is not to opine, but to document. Their focus remains on accuracy, historical integrity, and the preservation of events and individuals whose significance might otherwise go unrecorded.
