After President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump came over to the UK for an unprecedented state visit with King Charles and Queen Camilla, several comments he’s previously made about the family have resurfaced.
During Trump’s visit last week, at one point, it appeared as if the POTUS made a barbed comment at Prince Harry, who still has a strained relationship with his brother, Prince William.
As well as the dig at Prince Harry, many people felt Trump was also inappropriate towards Kate Middleton during a state dinner; however, some thought he was ‘gentlemanly’.
One thing’s for sure, the president knows how to make an impression, and the visit left many memorable moments, including Melania’s impressive hat collection.
Trump says he plans to extend an invitation to King Charles to come and visit him in the US, but after his many controversial comments over the years, we’re frankly surprised they’re still on speaking terms.
Here are some of Trump’s most eyebrow-raising comments about the royals, including the likes of Kate Middleton and Princess Diana.

Meghan Markle
Trump has made no secret about his feelings towards Meghan Markle in particular.
He accused Meghan and Prince Harry of treating the late Queen, who Trump was very fond of, ‘very disrespectfully’.
Following the release of Harry’s memoir, he was accused of lying about taking drugs on his US visa application, with Trump warning there may be consequences.
Eventually, he vowed to ‘leave him alone’ instead of deporting him, instead taking a shot at Meghan by saying: “He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
He had previously told The Sun that he ‘didn’t know she was nasty’ when Meghan said she would move to Canada if he won the 2016 US election.
Trump later backtracked his comments, telling Piers Morgan he hadn’t meant she personally was nasty, but that her comments about him were.

Prince Harry
As well as his wife, Meghan, Trump has also made several remarks about Prince Harry.
In 2022, he told Piers that Harry was ‘whipped like no person he has ever seen,’ and in October last year, he slammed: “I don’t give a damn about Prince Harry and I don’t think this country does either.”
Just months before, he called the couple ‘spoiled apples’.

Kate Middleton
He might have been praising the Princess Of Wales during his state dinner speech last week as ‘radiant and so healthy, so beautiful’, but he hasn’t always been so kind about her.
Back in 2012, French Closer shocked the world by publishing paparazzi photographs of Kate sunbathing topless on a private holiday in France.
Trump shared critical tweets of the princess, writing: “Kate Middleton is great–but she shouldn’t be sunbathing in the nude–only herself to blame.”
He added: “Who wouldn’t take Kate’s picture and make lots of money if she does the nude sunbathing thing. Come on Kate!”
The Prince and Princess of Wales were later awarded £92,000 in damages in 2017 after they sued the publication.
Princess Diana
Trump wrote in his book 1997, The Art Of the Comeback, that his only ‘regret in the women department’ was that he never dated Princess Diana.
In an interview with Howard Stern not long after Diana had died, he said he could have slept with her, and also called her ‘crazy’.
Stern asked: “Why do people think it’s egotistical of you to say you could’ve gotten with Lady Di? You could’ve gotten her, right? You could’ve nailed her.”
“I think I could have,” Trump replied.

Stern did an impression of Trump and Diana, saying: “Hey, Lady Di, would you go to the doctor?” referring to an earlier joke they made about ensuring women had HIV tests before sleeping with him.
Trump then said: “She had times when she didn’t look great, and sometimes you look better than anybody in the world. But she was a supermodel.
“She was crazy, but you know these are minor details,” Trump added.
In 2016, he told Piers Morgan he had never been interested in her romantically: “I did respect her, but no interest from that standpoint. But I did meet her once, and I thought she was lovely.”
