I, along with every other millennial, have fond, fond memories of Topshop’s Oxford Circus flagship store. I grew up in the middle of nowhere – two-and-a-half hours outside of London – and the headline act of any mother/daughter trip to the capital (an annual occurrence, for those interested), was a three hour slog around every corner of every single one of the five floors. Much to my mum’s dismay.
The shop was 90,000 square feet – a feast for fashion fans – and was said to attract upwards of 28,000 visitors every day. Whew. Every envelope of birthday money I ever received went towards an imminent Topshop haul; but not just spent on clothes. You could get a manicure in-store, buy cupcakes; get a tattoo, even. And littered amongst all of that fun, Topshop’s coveted collaborations with Christopher Kane, JW Anderson and Kate Moss ensured the store’s appeal spanned far past my pocket-money-earning age group.
It was a sad, sad day when the store closed its doors – a result of the company going into administration in 2020 and being bought-out by ASOS a year later. But, reader, I bring good news. This weekend, Saturday 16th August 2025 to be precise, Topshop is making a comeback with a Trafalgar Square AW25 runway show no less.
Its arrival comes after several teasers from the brand’s Instagram account starting way back in spring, with “We missed you too,” and “We’ve been listening,” in the captions. Since then we’ve seen an announcement that Cara Delevingne will face the re-launch with BTS of her in a tailored suit as well as a cow print jacket. Reminding us that Topshop is nothing if not a do-it-all brand.
The best part? The event this weekend is open to all; no ticket required. Doors open at 11:30am, the runway begins at 1pm, and the after show – featuring a Good Times party bus, turning the capital city’s central plaza into one giant dancefloor – will start just after.
Is Topshop making a comeback?
If you haven’t already gathered from the above info: Yes, it’s returning this Saturday 16th August 2025 with an AW25 runway in Trafalgar Square that’s open to the public.
