After State Visits to Sweden, Norway, Greenland, Finland and France, King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark will now be touring the Baltic States, beginning with a State Visit to Latvia on October 28-29, which follows their previous visit to Latvia in 2018.
King Frederik X and Queen Mary were received by President Edgars Rinkēvičs in an Official Welcome Ceremony at Riga Castle, which included a ceremonial reception, an introduction of the countries’ official delegations, and an inspection of the guard of honour.
Afterwards, the King and Queen laid flowers at the Freedom Monument in Riga, before visiting the Latvian parliament ‘Saeima’ where an official lunch was held ahead of a meeting with Prime Minister Evika Siliņa.
The King and Queen later visited the Latvian Occupation Museum and the Latvian Academy of Culture before a tour of part of Riga’s Art Nouveau district with a focus on the city’s unique architectural masterpieces.
In the evening, President Edgars Rinkēvičs held a State Banquet in honour of King Frederik X and Queen Mary at Riga Castle to honour and reaffirm the close relationship between Denmark and Latvia. The King and President both gave speeches.
In the daytime, Queen Mary wore the upper portion of the Earrings and the Brooch from the Khedive of Egypt Parure.
Queen Mary wore her Diamond Necklace Tiara and Diamond Earrings with Queen Louise of Sweden’s Engagement Bracelet, King Frederik X’s Portrait Order, and the Order of the Three Stars.
