King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Braemar Gathering

King Charles III and Queen Camilla are attending the annual Braemar Highland Gathering in Braemar, Ballater, Aberdeenshire on September 6th, during their annual summer holiday at Balmoral Castle.

The King and Queen were joined by Dame Joanna Lumley, Baroness Kennedy and Simon Sebag Montefiore, as they watched competitors compete in Running, Heavy Weights, Solo Piping, Light Field and Solo Dance.

Ahead of the Games, the King and Queen Camilla, dressed in mourning, observed a minute of silence for the late Duchess of Kent.

There has been an annual gathering at Braemar, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, for over 900 years, with the Games being a fixture on the Royal Calendar since the 1840s.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Royal and Sir Tim, and the Duke and the Duchess of Edinburgh joined King Charles III and Queen Camilla for the annual Sunday Service at Crathie Kirk near Balmoral Castle on August 24th, during their annual stay on the Balmoral Estate in the Scottish Highlands. The Balaklava Company, from The Royal Regiment of Scotland, formed a guard of honour at Crathie Kirk.

LP Staff Writers

Writers at Lord’s Press come from a range of professional backgrounds, including history, diplomacy, heraldry, and public administration. Many publish anonymously or under initials—a practice that reflects the publication’s long-standing emphasis on discretion and editorial objectivity. While they bring expertise in European nobility, protocol, and archival research, their role is not to opine, but to document. Their focus remains on accuracy, historical integrity, and the preservation of events and individuals whose significance might otherwise go unrecorded.
